Bay Area rapper Kavi Picasso has launched a coat drive to benefit homeless communities throughout Richmond, Berkeley, East Oakland, West Oakland, and San Francisco. As part of the holiday season effort, the rapper and his helper elves aim to collect 500 coats, hoodies, and jackets by Sun., Dec. 20 so that they can distribute them Dec. 21-23.
All new and used coat donations are welcomed by the rapper and Dreem Agency LLC, as long as they are clean and in good condition. To date, the rapper has received approximately 100 coat donations, however, he “can use a push from our community,” he said.
In addition to the coat donations, Picasso has established a Go Fund Me page to support his initiative.
“As a local hip-hop recording artist, I want to do my part to help someone that is less fortunate than I am especially at this time of the year. Not only is it the holiday season but it’s winter and my team and I recognize that a warm coat can go a long way maybe even prevent hypothermia. We are accepting donations to help buy 500 coats to be distributed through the Bay Area’s tent communities. I want to use my platform to help others,” stated Picasso on his Go Fund Me page.
