Gunna Leaving YSL to Sign With Atlantic Records Ahead of New Album

Rumors have been swelling around YSL's top-selling artist outside of Young Thug existing on the label and possibly signing a deal with Atlantic Records. Gunna is arranging an escape from YSL, according to DJ Akademiks' latest podcast Off The Record. The most recent episode found Ak examining Gunna's unavoidable reappearance following his plea bargain yet expressed that the Atlanta rapper anticipates Young Thug's verdict in the ongoing RICO case.

“The label side, a lot of people believe that Gunna is going to be seeking to leave YSL just because the relationship is fractured. It’s just no way you go through this and comes out on the other side where one guy is looking at decades in jail, and you came out in six months with a bad bi**h. It’s probably not gonna work,” the YouTuber said on his platform.

“What’s probably gonna happen is his contract gets negotiated where there’s either a buyout or he’s gonna go to Atlantic Records,” Akademiks added. “A lot of people think Atlantic Records might have Gunna soon whenever he’s gonna release it, just because based on the turmoil and strife between everybody in YSL and what’s going on with Thug. It wouldn’t be in his best interest to have YSL the label still working on his project.”

The Atlanta local delivered each of his studio releases through YSL Records, a subsidiary of 300 Entertainment. Be that as it may, 300 Entertainment's parent organization is Warner Music Group, with its subsidiary Atlantic Records filling in as 300's distribution. So Ak's suspicion that Gunna could move laterally makes sense.

Gunna, née Sergio Kitchens, 29, was arrested in May and accused of contriving to abuse the state of Georgia RICO Act as a component of the ongoing YSL RICO case.

He was set free from Fulton County Jail in mid-December 2022, with the "Pushin' P" rapper having been labeled a snitch by his peers and the public at large. He did have this to say on social media "Ni**as behaving like they changing to a side Yet it's just a single side." #YsltheLabel #FreeThug&Yak GUNNA BACC!!!!!"
